Engineering Director- Nike, Inc. Beaverton, OR. Drive and enhance the strategy for Nike Global technology which includes acquisition, delivery, analysis, and visualization of metrics, logs, and traces. Ensure the team is collecting the right metrics at the right frequency and the data is readily available/consumable for alerting, reporting, and analysis. Ensure strategy meets the rapidly evolving requirements in IT at required velocity continuing to increase rapid adoption of new and modern architectures, processes, and technologies. Directly collaborate with senior management and key partners to understand business requirements, help drive alignment and prioritization, and build thoughtful solutions to achieve collective goals. Manage resource assignment and project prioritization for the Observability Enablement team. Determine relevant KPIs to measure the team's ability to complete work requests and projects in a timely manner. Ensure tight integration of best of-breed observability platforms and seek opportunities to further enhance and simplify service offering for key stakeholders. Collaborate with a cross-functional team of developers, operations, products and architects to understand complex application architectures in order to design an effective top-down Observability strategy for holistic service visibility. Lead the evaluation, selection, design, deployment, and advancement of the portfolio of tools used to provide infrastructure and service monitoring of hybrid cloud/on-prem environments. Ensure tools utilized can provide the critical visibility on modern architectures leveraging technologies such as cloud, containers, IaC. Manage vendor relationships and ensure Nike has metrics to hold them accountable to defined SLAs. Design and maintain a robust strategy for alerting and incident-based collaboration across the enterprise. Telecommuting is available from anywhere in the U.S., except from AK, AL, AR, DE, HI, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, MT, ND, NE, NH, NM, NV, OH, OK, RI, SD, VT, WV, and WY.

Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field and five (5) years of progressive postbaccalaureate experience in the job offered or in a computer-related occupation.

Experience must include:

1. Java/Scala;

2. Troubleshooting;

3. Cloud infrastructure, such as AWS and Azure;

4. Platform Engineering;

5. Reliability Engineering;

6. System design;

7. Application performance monitoring;

8. Application and Infrastructure telemetry; and

9. Agile software development.
