Job Description:

Eli Zabar’s iconic wholesale bakery located in Manhattan is seeking a Bakery Director to direct, manage and optimize the overall operations of a multi-unit facility.

 

Overview:

Position: Director of Bakery Operations

Position Level: Full Time

Salary: $150-175K

Schedule: 5 days per week

Reports To: CEO

Duties will include:

- Set policies and make decisions guiding productivity, quality and cost efficiencies of entire operation

- Requires full knowledge of bakeries production and schedules, in order to streamline, create efficiencies, understand capabilities of labor pool and reduce overhead

- Will ensure all food guidelines are met, including all city and state inspections. Cleanliness standards and safety guidelines are adhered to at all times

- Lead on all H.R., payroll, labor relations activities and employee labor laws

- Directs team of mechanics so that the entire fleet of vehicles and all machinery is properly maintained, repaired and replaced if necessary

- Full responsibility for P&L of entire facility

- Sales team reports to Bakery Director for purposes of guidance on customers to target, pricing, decisions of bringing on new customers and handles difficult customer service issues

- Continuous review of all routes, creating additional stops and ensuring that the timing of stops work for all customers

- Due to the nature of a 24 hour facility, there will be rare occasions when emergency contact is required with overnight staff in order to maintain production

 

Requirements:

-Minimum of 10 years facilities management is required, preferably with a background in bread production or food production

-Working knowledge of equipment a plus
