The Role:

Reporting to the VP of Finance and Business Operations, Septerna is hiring a Director, Accounting Operations. This is a critical leadership role that will oversee Septerna’s day-to-day accounting operations from detailed procure-to-pay to the consolidated financial data for both internal and external reporting. The individual will team with internal and external resources to design and implement NetSuite and be the primary super user to ensure the system integrity and data accuracy. Additionally, this individual will work with the VP of Finance to solidify key accounting policies and procedures to support business growth and ensure compliance. The role is based in South San Francisco, CA.

Responsibilities:
 

• Oversee the entire accounting operations includes procurement, accounts payable, payroll, fixed assets, general ledger, cash management, and financial reporting to ensure compliance with US GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
• Engage in the NetSuite implementation and be the primary super user to ensure that the entire accounting ecosystem operates smoothly with highest degree of data integrity.
• Support VP of Finance to provide detailed information to external service providers including tax, 409(a) valuation, technical accounting and banks.
• Lead the annual audit process, ranging from providing transactional details to researching and recommending appropriate accounting treatment for complicated transactions.
• Formalize and document key accounting policies and procedure, and team up with external consultants to build adequate internal controls for risk mitigation and compliance.
   

Candidate Profile:
 

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, CPA license a must.
• Minimum 12+ years’ experience in accounting/finance, preferably a few years in biotech industries. A few years’ startup experience is preferred.
• Solid experience with SEC filings is required.
• Direct user experience with NetSuite is required.
• Detailed and have the ability to work independently.
• Leadership skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
• This is an onsite position with some flexibility to work from home.
   

The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in South San Francisco, CA is $205,000 - $235,000. Individual pay may vary based on additional factors, including, and without limitation, job-related skills, experience, work location and relevant education or training. Septerna's compensation package also includes benefits, stock options, and annual target bonus for full-time positions.
