The anticipated salary range for this role is between $166,000.00 and $205,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description

As a DevOps Engineer you will play a critical role binding the gap between development and operations. You will work closely with our software engineering, QA, infrastructure and security teams to design, implement and maintain a robust and scalable CICD solution to support mission-critical financial applications. Your expertise will ensure the seamless deployment of applications, while maintaining the highest levels of security, compliance and performance.

Role Objectives: Delivery

  1. CICD Pipeline Management: design, develop and maintain Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment pipelines to streamline the software development process.
  2. Infrastructure as Code – Implement and manage Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Terraform and Ansible to automate the provision and management of infrastructure.
  3. Monitoring & Logging: develop and maintain comprehensive monitoring and logging solutions to ensure the reliability and performance of production systems.
  4. Security & Compliance: collaborate with security teams to integrate security best practices into the DevOps processes, ensuring that all systems meet the stringent compliance requirements of the bank.
  5. Cloud and On-Premise Infrastructure: manage both Cloud based (Azure) and on-premise (OpenShift/VM’s) infrastructure, ensuring high availability and disaster recovery readiness.
  6. Automation & Scripting: develop automation scripts using Python, Bash or similar as required to automate routine tasks.
  7. Collaboration: work closely with development, QA, security and operations teams to ensure smooth and reliable application delivery and setting out best practice guidelines wherever possible.
  8. Environment Stability: take part in the DevOps team Rota to monitor alerts across environments, reporting on issues and improving the monitoring stack as required.
  9. Tooling development: help to build out the engineering platform that assists in improving developer experience and productivity.
  10. Release and DR: deploy scheduled releases and DR weekend checkouts when required.

Qualifications and Skills

  1. Experience: Minimum of 7 years in IT, with at least 5 years in a DevOps role.
  2. CICD Pipeline Management: Proven experience in designing, developing, and maintaining Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment pipelines.
  3. Infrastructure as Code: Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
  4. Monitoring & Logging: Strong background in developing and maintaining monitoring and logging solutions to ensure system reliability and performance.
  5. Security & Compliance: Demonstrated ability to integrate security best practices into DevOps processes, ensuring compliance with stringent security requirements.
