SUMMARY: Dental Assistants perform a variety of duties within a dental office, all of which increase the efficiency of providers, impact patient satisfaction and are essential to the rendering of treatment to patients. Dental Assistants support providers (Dentists and Hygienists) as they care for patients and may also perform office duties, as necessary.
Prepare tray setups for dental procedures
Welcome patients by greeting them, engaging in conversation, and seating them in an operatory
Help patients feel comfortable before, during and after dental treatment
Obtain/review the patient’s health history and/or pre-treatment records
Take blood pressure and pulse
Comply with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) policies
Hand instruments and materials to providers during treatment
Keep patient’s mouth dry and clear by using suction, water spray or other devices
Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment after treatment, following accepted infection control practices
Instruct patients on proper postoperative care, teach patients about good oral health
If directed by a Dentist, and allowed by law, may take impressions or x-rays
Document treatment in patient files as transcribed by providers
Schedule and confirm appointments, answer the telephone, assist with patient questions
Maintain patient confidence by protecting and appropriately handling all PHI (Protected Health Information)
Order dental supplies and maintain inventory
Conserve dental resources by using equipment and supplies only as needed to accomplish results
Assist providers in the event of a medical emergency
Hours- Thursdays and Fridays 7:00am to 5:00pm . Tuesdays when needed
Pay- DOE
Requirements:
X-Ray License and CPR certification are a must.
High School diploma or GED required; Must have a current, state specific license or certificate which authorizes the individual to perform job functions in addition to the essential duties, as required by state law (e.g. EFDA, RDA, Coronal Polishing, X- Ray). It is the team member’s responsibility to keep his/her license(s) active and in good standing throughout employment. Combination of education/experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties outlined for this position may be considered.
Experienced DA, DAEF or RDA preferred but new grads also encouraged to apply!
