About the Role:

Job Title: Data Scientist (E-Commerce Search)

Location: Remote

Key Responsibilities:

1. Design, implement, and optimize search ranking models using Learning to Rank (LTR) approaches.
2. Develop and fine-tune vector search and retrieval algorithms to improve search accuracy and relevance.
3. Analyze large-scale search logs and user behavior data to identify improvement opportunities.
4. Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and UX teams to align on goals and deliver data-driven solutions.
5. Experiment with and deploy machine learning models in production search pipelines.
6. Stay current with state-of-the-art search and information retrieval techniques.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Good hands-on experience as a Data Scientist or Machine Learning Engineer in an e-commerce or search-centric domain.
2. Proven expertise in Learning to Rank, vector similarity models, and retrieval systems (e.g., BM25, ANN, Faiss, Elasticsearch, Pinecone).
3. Strong programming skills in Python (and libraries like Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch).
4. Experience working with large datasets and distributed computing (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).
5. Solid understanding of NLP and information retrieval concepts.
6. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Salary Range: The salary for this position is between $128,000 – $138,000 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is eligible for commissions in accordance with the terms of the Company’s plan. Commissions for this position are estimated to be based on individual performance. Additionally, this role is also eligible for bonus based on achievement of mutually agreed KRAs.
