About the Role
Arizona State University's EdPlus unit, focused on the design and scalable delivery of digital teaching and learning, is hiring a Creative Designer for Social Media to join its Creative Services team. The designer sits at the intersection of design, motion, and video production, creating platform-optimized content that connects with prospective and current learners across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and emerging platforms.
The role collaborates with marketing, social, and cross-functional teams to produce scroll-stopping graphics, lightweight motion assets, and short-form video including Reels and YouTube Shorts. The designer works quickly within ASU's defined brand system, adapting and repurposing campaign assets for social formats while elevating everyday content to the standard expected from one of the country's most innovative universities.
This is a hybrid position based at SkySong, the ASU Scottsdale Innovation Center. Applications close June 26, 2026.
What the Role Covers
- Designing platform-optimized social content including static graphics, carousels, Stories, lightweight motion, and short-form video
- Editing Reels, YouTube Shorts, and other short-form video for social, including pacing, cuts, captions, sound design, and platform-specific export
- Adapting and repurposing campaign assets from the broader creative portfolio into channel-specific social executions
- Partnering with marketing to translate channel strategy and content calendars into compelling, on-brand creative
- Maintaining brand consistency within the ASU brand system and EdPlus design standards while finding creative range inside those guardrails
- Capturing short-form video and lightweight on-location footage in collaboration with the multimedia team
- Contributing to content planning conversations as a creative voice, flagging what's executable, what will perform, and where there's room to push
- Building and maintaining reusable templates and motion components to scale the team's social output
- Staying current on platform trends, format shifts, and creative best practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and 3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of experience and training
- Foundational understanding of design principles (layout, typography, color, hierarchy, accessibility)
- Experience designing for social media platforms with a portfolio showing platform-native thinking
- Working proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop)
- Experience editing short-form video using Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut, DaVinci Resolve, or similar
- Comfort working within a brand system while bringing creativity and energy to executions
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Familiarity with social platform best practices, format specs, and current creative trends
- Experience in higher education, EdTech, or mission-driven organizations a plus
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (sponsorship not available)
