Position Summary Information

 

General Information

The College of Business (CoB) at James Madison University (JMU) is accepting applications for a part-time Creative Content Specialist. The Creative Content Specialist will work with the Director of Marketing and Communications in visually supporting the College of Business through photography, videography and social media. The individual will understand the art of storytelling through visual means and will be able to portray our community in an engaging way. Focus will be on strategy, creation, sharing, monitoring and analyzing of content effectiveness. Nontraditional hours depending on event times and social media activity will likely be required. Expectation is for up to 29 hours of work per week.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Photography/Videography

  • Coordinate, produce and deliver photo/video content for web, collateral, social and digital screens consistent with the JMU brand and the CoB Office of Marketing and Communication goals
  • Work collaboratively with other team members to support their written or visual storytelling needs
  • Maintain and update the CoB digital asset archive
  • Manage CoB camera, lighting, and video equipment
  • Complete post-production and editing of images/video in timely manner
  • Work collaboratively with creative media personnel at university marketing level
  • Manage YouTube channel to optimize following

 

 

Social Media

  • Build and execute social media strategy through competitive research, platform determination, benchmarking, messaging and audience identification
  • Generate, edit, publish and share daily content (original text, images or video) on social media that builds meaningful connections and encourages community members to take action
  • Moderate all user-generated content in line with the moderation policy for each community
  • Utilize editorial calendars and scheduling and listening platform, Brandwatch
  • Collaborate and coordinate efforts with other CoB and JMU social media partners
  • Define most important social media KPI’s for each platform
  • Implement social media campaigns and measure results
  • Build relations with partners, program staff and student org leaders to build content pipeline

 

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated proficiency in digital video, including pre-production, planning, lighting, audio, postproduction and editing
  • Experience with Premiere Pro, Lightroom and other Adobe Creative Suite software
  • Proven photography skills and knowledge of cameras and lighting equipment
  • Demonstrated professional social networking experience and social analytics tools knowledge
  • Portfolio required (digital version preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Media or Marketing related field preferred

 

Condition(s) of Employment

This is a part-time wage position working an average of 29 hours per week over the course of a calendar year with no benefits. The work schedule is flexible.

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check.

The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, the university police law enforcement authority, crime reporting policies, disciplinary procedures, protocols for the immediate notification of students and staff upon confirmation of a significant emergency on campus and other matters of importance related to security and safety. The report includes statistics for the most recent three-year period of reported crimes that have occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by JMU or its affiliates; and on public property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus.

The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes campus housing fire statistics for the most recent three-year period, a description of each on-campus student housing facility fire safety system, the number of fire drills held during the previous calendar year, policies or rules on portable electrical appliances, smoking, and open flames in student housing; and procedures for student housing evacuation in the event of fire along with other fire safety information.
