Job Description:

Are you a talented wordsmith with an eye for captivating design? The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, a dynamic member of a family-owned media company, invites passionate individuals to join our night news copy desk in the vibrant city of Little Rock.

At the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, we're pioneers in journalism, embracing cutting-edge approaches to deliver our readers balanced and objective coverage of the day's news. Our commitment to traditional journalism in a nontraditional way sets us apart. Readers enjoy our daily editions on iPads and various devices, with the Sunday paper printed and delivered to all subscribers. Additionally, our website serves as a digital hub for our compelling stories.

We're looking for a skilled copy editor/page designer with a college degree in journalism or relevant experience and a keen understanding of grammar and AP style. The ideal candidate will craft accurate, attention-grabbing headlines and demonstrate proficiency using Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the design of new pages either immediately or shortly after joining our team.

Joining our team means becoming a valued member of our professional family. We offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes paid vacation, holidays, sick leave, personal days, and parental leave. Take advantage of extensive health, dental, vision, and other insurance coverage, as well as long-term disability and retirement plans for your future well-being. Our commitment to your holistic well-being extends to the Employee Assistance Program, providing additional support when needed.

This is a safety-sensitive position; candidates must undergo a mandatory drug test and background check. Expect a copy-editing test during the interview process. If you're ready to make a mark in the world of journalism and design, contact Stacy Hawkins at shawkins@adgnewsroom.com to express your interest.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette takes pride in being an equal opportunity employer that values diversity. We do not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, age, genetic information, or any other legally protected class or status. Join us in creating a workplace that celebrates uniqueness and fosters innovation.
