We are seeking talented and passionate Science Contract Writers to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in scientific research and exceptional writing skills working with materials for the k12 science student audience in Louisiana , enabling them to communicate complex scientific concepts clearly and engagingly. This role requires a detail-oriented individual who can produce high-quality content for various platforms, including articles, proposals, and reports. Writers with experience teaching Science in any of the Louisiana public schools is a plus.

Duties

1. Research and write articles on diverse scientific topics for publication in various media outlets.
2. Edit and proofread content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to the AP style or Chicago Manual of Style as required.
3. Conduct thorough fact-checking to maintain the integrity of information presented in all written materials.
4. Collaborate with scientists and subject matter experts to gather insights and data for writing projects.
5. Develop proposals for potential projects or grants, showcasing strong copywriting skills.
6. Utilize technical writing skills to create clear documentation for scientific processes and findings.
7. Engage in creative writing when necessary to enhance storytelling aspects of scientific narratives.
8. Maintain proficiency in word processing software and other relevant tools to streamline the writing process.

Requirements

1. Proven experience in writing, journalism, or a related field with a focus on science communication.
2. Strong proofreading, copy editing, and editing skills with an eye for detail.
3. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex ideas simply.
4. Familiarity with AP style guidelines as well as the Chicago Manual of Style is preferred.
5. Solid research skills with the ability to synthesize information from multiple sources effectively.
6. Experience in technical writing is a plus; familiarity with scientific terminology is essential.
