BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION

IESC is a leading U.S. nonprofit organization that fosters private sector development in the economically developing world. Since 1964, we have delivered lasting solutions that have resulted in more than 1.5 million jobs in 137 countries. We partner with businesses, cooperatives, entrepreneurs, jobseekers, and governments to sustainably build capacity, create jobs, and grow enterprises, sharing proven skills and experience that improve the lives of individuals, families, and communities around the world. Our major funders today are the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), among others.

IESC is recruiting for a Content Editor Consultant to provide high-quality editing of success stories, semi-annual reports, and work plan year 2 for the USDA-Food for Progress funded Agricultural Trade and Climate Smart Innovations (ATraCSI) project from May 2023 through May 2024 with potential annual extensions through September 2027. The Content Editor Consultant supports program operations to proofread, copy edit, and format program success stories, semi-annual reports, and work plan year 2 that are required by IESC’s cooperative agreement with USDA . This is a consultancy position that reports to the Director, Trade and Enterprise.

· Re-write sentences for clarity;

· Re-order sentences to ensure clear meaning and a logical flow for the reader;

· Improve the overall quality of the draft written material;

DELIVERABLES AND EXPECTED DATES

  • Success Stories. The program director or associate will send success stories to the consultant on an ad hoc basis beginning in October 2023. The consultant will review and edit the stories per the consultant tasks section above. The consultant will return each edited success story in three files to IESC. The files are: one Word file with Tracked Changes; one clean Word file without Tracked Changes; and one PDF file of the clean version without comments.

No later than March 31 or September 30, respectively (dates for the last semi-annual report might be different), the program director or associate will coordinate with the consultant to determine an editing schedule. IESC anticipates that semiannual editing is a four-day total turnaround time for the consultant:

The consultant will return an edited final version in two files to IESC per the agreed-upon schedule. The files are: one Word file with Tracked Changes; one clean Word file without Tracked Changes.
    • Day 3: Any clarifying questions must be within the tracked changes file. IESC will answer these within one business day of receiving the final draft.
    • Day 4: Consultant response to final revisions (if any) is due within one business day of receiving IESC clarifications.
  • Work Plan Year 2. Work Plans are due to USDA on August 31 each year. No later than July 31, the program director or associate will coordinate with the consultant to determine an editing schedule. IESC anticipates that work plan editing is a four-day total turnaround time for the consultant:
