Job Description:

Commissioning Manager – Hyperscale Data Centers

📍 Must be based in: EST or Central Time Zone.

Atlas Connections is partnering with our client, a leading developer of large-scale data centers purpose-built for AI and high-performance computing (HPC) workloads. This firm combines deep design, development, and delivery expertise with institutional-scale capital raising capabilities — providing both equity and debt financing for its projects. With approximately $4 billion in active data center development and a controlled pipeline exceeding $10 billion, this is one of the fastest-growing platforms in the hyperscale data center space.

We are seeking a Commissioning Manager to lead and oversee end-to-end commissioning operations across a portfolio of large-scale critical facility projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic, Northeast, and Midwest regions.

The Role: The Commissioning Manager will serve as the owner's representative for all commissioning activities, ensuring that mission-critical systems are installed, tested, and validated to perform as designed. This individual will manage third-party Cx agents, coordinate with construction and engineering teams, and drive commissioning schedules across multiple concurrent builds — from L1 through L5 testing and integrated systems testing (IST). You will report directly to senior leadership and play a key role in shaping the commissioning program as the platform continues to scale.

What We're Looking For:

  1. 7+ years of direct data center commissioning experience — this is non-negotiable
  2. Proven track record managing commissioning on ground-up hyperscale or large-scale critical facility projects (20MW+)
  3. Deep technical knowledge of mission-critical MEP systems including medium-voltage electrical distribution, generator paralleling, UPS systems, chilled water plants, CRAH/CRAC units, and BMS/EPMS controls
  4. Experience managing and holding accountable third-party Cx firms, GCs, and MEP subcontractors
  5. Strong command of commissioning levels (L1–L5), scripting, IST planning, and functional performance testing
  6. Familiarity with industry standards including ASHRAE, NETA, NFPA 70E, and BICSI
  7. Ability to manage commissioning across multiple projects simultaneously in various stages of delivery
  8. Willingness to travel regionally (up to 50%) as project demands require
  9. Excellent communication skills — you will interface regularly with ownership, construction management, design engineers, and end users.

Nice to Have:

  1. Experience commissioning AI/HPC-focused facilities with high-density power and liquid cooling infrastructure
  2. Background with a developer, owner/operator, or Cx firm working on behalf of the owner
  3. PE, CxA, or NETA certification
  4. Familiarity with LEED or Uptime Institute Tier certification processes
