Coastal Winemaking Internship

A Taste Of What You’ll Do

1. Assist in sampling, lab blends, tasting, inventory control, and cellar work management.
2. Participate in fermentation monitoring and tasting, analysis tracking, and data interpretation.
3. Assist in preparing and processing work orders.
4. Monitor and/or perform grape sorting, inoculations, additions, maceration, racking, draining, pressing, barrel filling, and lab analysis.
5. Work cross-functionally with departments across the company.

What You’ll Need

1. Currently enrolled at a college or university and working towards a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in the following areas OR have obtained a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in the following areas: School of Life Sciences, School of Agricultural Sciences, or School of Engineering (Business or social sciences degrees are not eligible for this internship, such as ag business, psychology, etc).
2. Required to lift and move up to 45 lbs.
3. Required to drive to and from varying winery locations up to 5% of the time
4. Candidate is required to have a valid driver’s license, a safe driving record and reliable vehicle (if applicable) at the time of hire. This position will undergo a motor vehicle check (MVR) to confirm a history of safe and responsible driving. If needed, candidate must obtain the appropriate state driver’s license based on the position’s location within 30 days of hire.
5. Required to climb fixed stairs with handrails and vertical ladders with hoop cages to a height of 40 feet.
6. Required to be 21 years of age or older.
7. Required to work evenings, weekends and holidays when necessary.
8. Experience computing mathematical formulas and basic computer skills.
9. Required to be 18 years or older. This may be in addition to other age requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.

How You’ll Stand Out

1. Junior or Senior class standing at a college or university and working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Fermentation Science, Plant Science, Enology, Food Science, Wine Business, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Molecular Bioscience, Biology, Viticulture, Biological Engineering, Winemaking or Chemistry.
2. Prior winemaking and tasting internship or work experience.
3. Familiar with Chemistry and Microbiology.
4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
5. Strong oral and written communication skills.
6. Excellent organizational skills with the experience managing multiple assignments.
