The Opioid Epidemic is a public health crisis with a highly effective but underutilized clinical intervention - millions of Americans are physically dependent on Opioids but only 10% of those likely to have OUD actually access treatment. The Clinical Quality Registered Nurse role is one with a mix of administrative responsibilities and direct patient care. Administratively this position is responsible for documentation review for clinical quality and policy adherence, performance feedback to providers, training new and established providers in quality expectations, and developing and improving training materials. Clinically, the Clinical Quality Registered Nurse is responsible for triage of incoming patient concerns via chat, routing concerns to the appropriate party, and addressing concerns directly by providing patient assessment and education.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the medical and behavioral provider teams to monitor practice quality metrics and give feedback to providers and Medical Directors.
- Collaboratively work on provider training resources for use in new provider onboarding and practice quality improvement.
- Provide individual and group training directly in new provider onboarding and in the course of practice quality improvement.
- Participate in co-development of quality improvement plans with your team. Implement quality improvement plans approved by the Director of Clinical Quality.
- Perform targeted chart review and conduct interviews to investigate and address grievances and critical incidents.
- Conduct routine and targeted medical record audits.
- Conduct root cause analysis to inform responses to critical incidents and practice quality deficiencies.
- Collaborate with the Director of Clinical Quality to develop Objectives and Key Results (OKR's) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the Clinical Quality team.
- Understand our practice Policies and Procedures in exquisite depth.
- Become an Athena EHR superuser and trainer.
- Identify needed updates and gaps in our practice Policies and Procedures and make recommendations for change.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team workgroups to achieve practice quality improvement goals.
- Support non-clinical staff in responding to patient needs that require clinical input.
- Assess and triage patient clinical concerns. Provide patient education, manage patient expectations and route concerns to the appropriate provider as needed.
- Assess and triage clinical inbox tasks including lab results and psychosocial and addiction medicine screening and assessment tools.
- Collaborate with the clinical team to support progress toward patient treatment goals utilizing motivational interviewing.
- Develop an understanding of internal, local, regional and national compliance needs.
- Serve as a clinical resource across multiple teams, and provide feedback, guidance, and direction to peers, providers, leaders and ancillary staff to improve performance, compliance and customer satisfaction.

Requirements:
- Possess a valid, unrestricted Registered Nursing license in an RN Compact state and be eligible and willing to obtain additional licenses in multiple states.
- Minimum 2 years post-licensure registered nursing experience in a quality improvement, training and performance review or utilization review role.
- Minimum 2 years post-licensure registered nursing experience in direct patient care within the field of family medicine, internal medicine or psychiatry. Addiction Medicine experience preferred.
- Experience developing educational content and implementing training programs.
- Experience monitoring practice quality improvement goals relevant to evidence-based practice standards, productivity expectations, regulatory compliance, contract compliance and/or accrediting body requirements.
- Experience providing performance feedback and training to physicians and advanced practitioners.
- Strong analytical aptitude, problem-solving ability and nursing assessment skills.
- Excellent communication skills; ability to provide feedback in a collaborative, goal-oriented way while maintaining positive rapport.
- Ability to prioritize and pivot in a fast paced environment.
- Motivational Interviewing, case management and addiction medicine triage experience preferred.
- Strong technical aptitude, ability to learn and utilize multiple platforms for record-keeping, communication and project management.
- Consistent access to a private work environment with high speed internet and professionally appropriate surroundings for frequent confidential video conferencing.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Target Pay Range: $85,000 - $90,000 - Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
