Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Catalog Assistant for the University Registrar’s Office.


Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  1. Edit and format course descriptions, program requirements, and academic policies for accuracy and consistency.
  2. Assist with catalog/curriculum system editing and maintenance.
  3. Assist with testing updates in the catalog/curriculum system.
  4. Verify that course prerequisites, credit hours, and numbering follow institutional standards.
  5. Maintain version control and ensure correct application of style guides.
  6. Conduct quality checks on catalog drafts before publication; proactively fix or report any newly discovered issues within the system.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Education, Journalism or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  1. Basic data entry and document management abilities.
  2. Strong writing and editing skills, including grammar, clarity, and consistency.
  3. Strong attention to detail with the ability to catch errors in formatting, course numbers, prerequisites, and policy language.
  4. Organizational skills with the ability to track multiple updates across departments.


Preferred Qualifications

  1. Familiarity in using Course Dog catalog/curriculum application for editing.
