Job Summary
Using data analytics, data visualization, data modeling, and predictive analytic techniques and technologies, the incumbent will identify trends to help other departments, managers, and executives make business decisions to modernize, automate, and improve organizational processes. This is done by mining complex data using BI software and tools, comparing data to industry trends, and creating visualizations that communicate findings to others in the organization. Incumbents plan, coordinate, and implement the creation of data models, flow diagrams, mappings, and dictionaries and will maintain all documentation therein. Responsibilities may include coordinating and monitoring the work of external contractors and developing and/or approving new projects and plans.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Have a working knowledge of the strengths and limitations of various data storage, transformation, and distribution mechanisms. As a function of data quality (including availability), identify the appropriate data sources, manipulation tools, and techniques for a particular analytics use case. Collaborate with data scientists and business units to help solve their analytical needs.
- Perform analysis to support various initiatives that have an analytical need impacting CDE Lightband's load balancing, rate schedules, weather forecasting, customer view, and products and services; Conduct ad-hoc analyses including modeling, forecasting, and reporting
- Develop, manage, and deploy best-practice data collection, data governance, storage, and manipulation techniques (extract, transform, and load) that ultimately enable business units to unlock additional value from company-held data from multiple data sources; test report functionality and engage clients for acceptance testing.
- Provide project management for various projects, including collecting and analyzing application or program requirements; developing and/or approving project plans; assessing user needs; identifying appropriate tools to meet user needs; coordinating activities with external contractors; and/or performing related activities
- Partnering and collaborating with teams and business partners both internally and externally to the Utility to provide data, reporting, and information; Preparing information in a presentable format so that it is easily understood and relatable for all to understand and gather data as needed; presenting findings to key stakeholders
- Performs other duties as assigned of a similar nature or to assist as needed
Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Data Management, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Business or related field.
Experience: 1-2 years in an electric utility type of employment - programming and analytical tools - is preferred.
Certification & License: Valid driver's license, CPR/AED, or ability to obtain upon hire
Other Requirements: Exempt position could require work during non-business hours
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledgeable in coordinating project management principles.
- Knowledgeable of basic statistical methods like regression, clustering, and decision trees.
- Knowledgeable with multiple data stores - both relational and non-relational databases.
- Knowledgeable of electric utility and fiber optic broadband systems
- Working knowledge of basic computer and related software applications
- Working knowledge of data validation or analysis that utilizes data manipulation and processing techniques to ensure (connected) datasets are high quality and useable for analysis/reporting purposes.
