The James Beard Foundation (JBF) is a vital cultural institution with deep roots honoring and advancing the culinary arts and industry for over 30 years. The organization has experienced a historic period of organizational transformation and an increase in philanthropic support as it focused its efforts towards supporting the independent restaurant industry to rebuild and recover in the wake of the pandemic. As a 501c3 national organization, JBF brings its mission to life through the annual James Beard Awards, industry and community-focused initiatives and programs, advocacy, partnerships, and events across the country.

The Branded Content Manager is an integral part of the Marketing and Communications department, developing and managing organic and branded content to support partnerships for promotion across JBF channels. Reporting to the Director of Content Strategy & Development, this position will be responsible for creating, writing, editing, and reviewing content in collaboration with the team, managing relationships internally and with external partners and consultants, managing promotional campaigns, and reporting on data/analytics/ROI for campaigns to determine best practices.

This role is currently hybrid due to COVID-19 and based at our New York City office. JBF requires that all employees reside in the New York Metropolitan Area and be fully vaccinated and boosted for COVID-19 unless a medical or religious accommodation is needed in accordance with applicable law.

Responsibilities:
Branded Content Creation and Management

Work with the JBF Sponsorship team and consultants to determine content objectives for sponsors and partners to promote the James Beard awards, programs, events and more.
Ideate, pitch, and compose copy for sponsored advertorial and editorial content that meet sponsor goals while retaining our brand's voice and JBF mission-alignment.
Develop tactical plans for sponsored projects and contribute to the overall JBF marketing & communications strategy, and paid media plans.
Assist the sponsor team in crafting and editing copy for sponsored marketing collateral (i.e., evites, etc.) and ensure deadlines for sponsor review and approvals are met.
Gather sponsor assets from internal and external teams (photos, videos, links, social handles, etc.) to use in social, digital, and editorial content.
Collaborate with graphic designer and video production teams to provide input and collective revisions for creative (print, digital, video, etc.) featuring sponsors and partners.
Manage in-person/virtual social media coverage for sponsored events including photographing/video recording sponsor activations and executing on social channels.
Communicate with Sponsorship team and consultants to ensure guidelines and protocols are adhered to, content is compliant, contractual deliverables are met, and information is disseminated to stakeholders.
Develop best practices for branded social, email, editorial to share internally and externally, in collaboration with the sponsor team.
Compile and analyze data and reporting metrics for branded content.
Lead regular meetings providing updates, reporting, and creative ideas to Sponsorship and Marketing and Communications teams.
Stay up to date on best practices and trends in branded content and content marketing.

Organic Content Creation and Management

Manage annual editorial content calendar, in collaboration with Director of Content Strategy & Development, to align content with JBF’s marketing campaigns.
Work with chefs, restauranteurs, entrepreneurs, program participants and others on storytelling for use in a variety of content formats.
Manage video content production to ensure the consistent and appropriate tone and style for the James Beard Awards, Taste America, and sponsored event or program series with external production companies, including promos, interviews, interstitials, and brand video.
Hire and manage freelance writers and editors, videographers, producers, and photographers as needed in collaboration with the Director of Content Strategy and Development.
Review and assist Digital Marketing Manager with social campaigns.
Review content performance and provide data and analysis for monthly reports.
Update Jamesbeard.org homepage weekly with content.

Requirements

3-5 years of experience in branded/sponsored content, preferably at an agency, in-house, or related field.
Outstanding organizational, written and verbal communication, and time management skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Understanding and experience working with multiple social media platforms.
Comfortable with various digital platforms, proficient in MS Suite including Teams, Excel, and PowerPoint, and Mac Keynote.
Ability to thrive in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment.
Passion for advancing racial and gender equity, and environmental sustainability.
Experience with Salesforce or other CRM desired.
Experienced in applying data-led insights to strategic and creative planning.
Team-oriented with a willingness to contribute where/as needed.
Interest or experience in culinary industry is a bonus.

The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $66,000 and is dependent upon level of experience.
