Research Assistant, Analytical Chemistry

Salary Expectation: $21.00 per hour to $25.00 per hour

BioPhase is looking for a talented and motivated Research Assistant to join a team specializing in analytical chemistry. This temporary position will involve working in a cutting-edge lab environment, performing detailed qualitative and quantitative analysis to support ongoing research efforts in microbial and plant systems.

Position Responsibilities:

• Perform extractions and chemical derivatizations on microbial and plant samples for analysis using GC-FID (Gas Chromatography-Flame Ionization Detector).
• Use scientific literature to design experiments and improve analytical methods.
• Collaborate with team members to analyze and describe complex metabolite profiles in support of protein engineering and disease research platforms.

Knowledge, Experience, and Skills:

The ideal candidate will:

• Hold a degree (baccalaureate or higher) in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a related scientific field.
• Possess a strong understanding of lab science skills, chemical hygiene, and safety practices, maintaining an organized lab notebook.
• Have experience handling samples in microliter volumes and working with analytical instruments such as GC (Gas Chromatography).
• Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, along with organizational and time-management abilities.
• Be proficient in Excel and the MS Office suite.
• Be able to follow SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and troubleshoot routine procedures as necessary.
• Be adaptable and able to handle multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
