JOB SUMMARY : Under the guidance of licensed staff, assist students with social-emotional and behavioral needs by helping individuals or small groups of students with curriculum, implementing programming, generalizing learned skills, and implementing behavior strategies. Assist in preparing student materials, monitoring students, and recording student achievement and progress. Provide technical physical care and support for students with behavior and emotional needs. Maintain a clean and hygienic work environment where appropriate. When working in an online/remote environment, provide support to students by assisting them with access to remote learning, re-teaching curriculum, implementing programming, setting up executive functioning strategies, generalizing learned skills, and completing assignments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The minimum prerequisites of formal education, professional work experience, certifications, licenses, endorsements, designations, trainings, and other criteria that a candidate must fulfill to be considered for a position. It is essential that certifications, licenses, endorsements, designations, and trainings are fulfilled, valid, and not expired.

  1. Criminal background check and fingerprinting required
  2. High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma
  3. No professional work experience required
  4. Mandatory biennial Crisis Prevention Intervention training provided by the District
  5. Medication administration training provided by the District as needed
  6. Basic knowledge of typical office equipment such as telephones, copiers, fax machines, email, etc.
  7. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
  8. Intermediate verbal and written communication skills
  9. Intermediate interpersonal relations skills
  10. Intermediate organizational skills
  11. Ability to work alone and with others
  12. Ability to implement behavior modification techniques
  13. Ability to diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations
  14. Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job
  15. Ability to work one-on-one and in small groups with students

  1. Experience working in the public sector, specifically public education
  2. Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
  3. Racially conscious and culturally competent with the skill, will, capacity, and knowledge to commit to a culture of continuous improvement
  4. Associate’s degree
  5. Classroom/instructional experience in an educational setting or any licensed teaching experience
  6. Experience working with students, including students with social-emotional and/or behavior challenges
  7. CPR and First Aid certification
