OVERVIEW:
The Associate Director of Marketing, Brand will report to the Director of Marketing, Brand and will work with National and local teams across the Year Up network to lead the execution of our new brand strategy and refresh the Year Up brand through planning, content creation, execution and rollout, and maintenance projects. Working cross-functionally and with external contractors, the Associate Director of Marketing, Brand will help lead brand alignment across the organization, provide strong project management, and deliver high-quality, on-brand, and timely work.

To be successful in this role, you’ll characterize yourself as a self-starter with strong relationship-building and problem-solving skills. You’ll be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and managing projects involving multiple stakeholders. You have a powerful understanding of messaging, a sharp eye for editing and compelling design, keen writing and communication skills, and a thoughtful understanding of our key audiences. You pride yourself on your strategic thinking and project management skills, leveraging your ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholder groups and to manage up, down, and across to move projects forward and get things done. Strong candidates will also bring a passion for meaningful work and social justice and will be excited and prepared to engage with Year Up’s mission and constituents.

The Associate Director of Marketing, Brand will also have the opportunity to interact with students as a mentor, group facilitator, and advocate, participating in building a positive educational environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Brand Strategy and Planning

Participate in and inform the evolution of our brand design and architecture in partnership with internal leadership and agency team
Help lead the work of evaluating the brand, how to position the organization externally and evolving our “One Year Up” messaging to fulfill our long-term strategic plan
Develop and lead the Brand Refresh rollout across the organization
Manage across and partner with multiple internal stakeholders to maintain alignment with brand plans, primarily: Grads of Life, YUPRO, DEIB, HR, Research and Evaluation, Executive Operations/Internal Communications
Other duties as assigned

Brand Content Creation

Project manage the development of high-quality, on-brand content that furthers the Year Up brand across a variety of channels and mediums, including email, social media, print, digital, photo, and video
Create, deploy and establish adherence to a robust content creation strategy and workflow to enable consistent thought leadership content development
Lead the creation of cross-channel brand storytelling and campaigns to improve brand loyalty and brand sentiment and broaden general brand awareness
Curation of statistics, student stories, photo/video assets, quotes, and other key brand information needed for collateral creation across the marketing team
Identify and advocate for new opportunities that support our brand marketing strategy
SEO enablement - setting guidelines and refining content in coordination with agency and website teams

Brand Content Management

Establish and lead the creation and maintenance of brand guidelines (e.g. editorial, style, social, design, photography)
Conduct brand reviews of assets and provide specific and actionable guidance for internal and external stakeholders
Manage the creation and execution of processes and resources that ensure brand strength, alignment, and efficiencies across the organization, including collateral/assets and key guides/resources
Building out reporting cadence and goals and executing measurement and reports on a consistent basis
Website maintenance and updates of branding and sub-sections on YearUp.org and for GeraldChertavian.com
Monitor and manage CEO’s digital presence through content and social media
Own and house the messaging for key statistics
Manage corresponding budget line items

National Team/Learning Community Member

Join and sometimes facilitate weekly group sessions with students
Serve as a mentor/coach for a small group of current students
Participate in staff meetings and trainings

QUALIFICATIONS:
5-10 years’ marketing/communications experience, preferably with a focus on brand management and content creation. Agency experience a plus. Strong candidates will have these key attributes:
Commitment to mentorship and t0 supporting the growth of others a must; experience managing people directly preferred
Demonstrated written and verbal communication and storytelling skills; copywriting experience a plus
Attention to detail, especially in copyediting
Ability to shift communication style to target a variety of stakeholders
Ability to seek out and absorb lots of information, and identify simple and powerful key messages
Demonstrated ability to manage projects involving multiple departments and stakeholders
Ability to manage many competing priorities and communicate effectively when priorities shift
Experience managing freelancers/leading graphic design and editorial work (blogs, videos, infographics, etc.)
Experience managing social media for a business preferred; proficiency with Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok a plus
SEO experience a plus
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Google Analytics, Drupal, Wordpress, Widen/other DAM, Marketo, and Salesforce a plus

Salary Range: $83,125 - $100,00

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
Year Up has established salary ranges for each of our sites, which allows us to pay employees competitively, equitably and consistently in different geographic markets. For roles in which the location is listed as flexible, the range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Salary offers take into account a candidate’s skills, experience, and location. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your location during the hiring process.
