The Associate Designer supports the Sr Designer in the Handbag & SLG design process. Participates in executing all visual materials from the Design department from concept to delivery. Constant communication with Sr Designer and Development teams to ensure accurate execution of product design.

Reports to: Sr Designer

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Participate in research and identifying seasonal fashion, materials, and merchandise trends

• 
  Assist in handbag sketching, following direction of design leaders.
• Develop and maintain CADs & detailed tech-packs. Ensure all levels of details are accurate.
• Review prototypes in a timely manner and update tech packs to reflect agreed upon changes and modifications

• 
  Communicate design information daily to overseas teams & factories.
• Collaborate with product development team to ensure design objectives are executed as directed.

• 
  Sample tracking / sample management
• Assist in showroom set-up

• 
  Maintain color and materials library

• 
  International travel as required. Attendance at tradeshows and events may also be required.

Required Skills & Competencies:

• Ability to use market research, trends and industry knowledge to participate in upcoming design meetings

• 
  Must be a team player, exhibiting strong communication skills and flexibility

  Strong organizational, time management and prioritization skills, attention to detail and accuracy

  Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite; Illustrator and Photoshop

  Ability to sketch, CAD and understand foundational Handbag design elements.

• Strong knowledge of handbag construction in both synthetic materials and leather

• Unique design perspective for a modern & casual customer.

Experience:

• 3-5 years related handbag design experience.
• Experience creating technical drawings, tech-packs, CADS and merchandising boards.

Education:

• Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Merchandising or Design and/or experience in handbag design.
