Job Description:

This is an open position for art models for the Metropolitan State University of Denver’s Department of Art. Models are expected to pose nude for student coursework and should be able to hold poses for as short as 30 seconds to as long as the duration of the class period. Models are provided a short break after holding the same pose for 20 minutes. While athletic ability is not required, body awareness and the ability to twist, turn, bend and accentuate the 3-dimensional qualities of the human figure in poses are highly desirable. Models of all genders, ages, and body types are encouraged to apply. The work is performed in an indoor studio setting under the supervision of the class instructor during class hours. Expected work hours are generally scheduled by the instructor in 2-hour blocks.

 

This position is categorized as a temporary, non-benefits eligible, hourly position. Models are not eligible to receive validated parking passes. Candidates offered a position will be required to pass pre-employment screenings as mandated by MSU Denver’s Human Resources Department. These screenings include a background check.

Duties/Responsibilities

 

Provide Draped and Un-draped Modeling Services for Drawing classes (90%)

 

  • Use awareness of your body and the ability to twist, turn, bend and accentuate the 3-dimensional qualities of the human figure in various poses.
  • Positioning oneself and holding poses from as little as 30 seconds up to 1.5 hours with provided breaks in 20-minute intervals.
  • Follow verbal or physical directions, guidance, and suggestions from the instructor.

 

Various Administrative Tasks (10%)

 

  • Accurately logging hours worked in the university program. Training provided.
  • Submitting accurate timesheets on their due date.
  • Taking required university trainings in self-service Banner.
  • Responding to modeling related questions via email or phone.

 

Required Qualifications

 

  • Prior experience with modeling, theater, acting, yoga, gymnastics, dancing, or other physical training that requires coordination and performance.
  • This position requires the person to frequently remain in a stationary position (standing, sitting, lying down, etc.).
  • Applicants should possess a friendly and professional demeanor, and have a patient and respectful attitude toward others.
  • Be punctual, and consistently reliable.
  • Requires ability to follow safety and emergency procedures.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Prior experience as an art model in a university setting is preferred.
