We have an immediate opportunity for an Aircraft Mechanic II (Engine) to support our FRCSE team at NAS Jacksonville, FL. The successful candidate for this position will perform organizational, intermediate, and depot level repair of aircraft engines to include troubleshooting, inspection, modifications, removal and installation of components, and operation of systems.
Responsibilities:
- Disassembly of aircraft engines, engine modules, and accessories, removing tubing, fuel controls, pumps, etc. from engines, and breaking down major assemblies in proper sequence
- Determines if disassembled parts are reusable, recognizing scratches, burns, deformation, etc.
- Ability to use measurement instruments such as electronic balance scales, continuity checkers, go-no-go gauges, squares, rulers and vernier calipers to check disassembled parts for defects in order to route defective parts to repair or salvage
- Demonstrated ability in the use of basic hand and power tools in-accordance with trade requirements
- Must be able to pass a government background check in order to obtain a DoD Civilian and Contractor (CAC) Identification Card for entry onto various military bases and for access to certain military computer systems
Qualifications:
- Education/Certificates:
- High school diploma or GED required
- A minimum of 2 years of aviation experience performing the above duties and responsibilities preferred
- Experience:
- This work requires well-rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
- Skills:
- This work requires well-rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
- Must be proficient in the use of hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment
- Other Qualifications
- Ability to obtain and maintain a government clearance
