Job Description:

Position Summary: The Vascular Surgery APP (Aorta Program Lead) will be responsible for helping to manage the clinical care of patients in the Aortic Disease Program within the Vascular Surgery Center of Excellence. The Aorta Program Lead will work closely with faculty and staff from vascular and cardiac surgery to provide high-quality care to patients with aortic disease (aneurysms, dissections, etc). They will also ensure the smooth development, implementation, and operation of the Aorta program. The position will be focused on the outpatient care of patients in the clinical practice.

 

Responsibilities

 

  1. Independently evaluate and develop treatment plans for New and Established patients in outpatient clinic
  2. Develop and oversee pre- and post-operative outpatient protocols for patients with aortic disease
  3. Work closely with Aortic Program Nurse Navigator and other vascular staff to coordinate the pre- and post-operative care of patients
  4. Participate in aortic-related clinical research and publication activities
  5. Collaborate with the quality improvement team to identify opportunities for quality projects and maintenance of associated registries
  6. Educate patients, families, and healthcare providers about aortic aneurysms/dissection and their management
  7. Keep abreast of current best practices, guidelines, and developments in the patient population

Qualifications

 

PA and/or NP, with Acute Care or Gerontology certification is eligible for this role. Vascular Surgery experience is preferred. Current licensure as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant in the State of Florida.

 

Qualification

  1. Minimum 1 year experience as a provider with surgical specialty
  2. Cardiac or Vascular ICU experience strongly preferred
  3. Strong clinical skills and knowledge of cardiovascular disease (hypertension, hyperlipidemia, coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, etc) management
  4. Excellent communication and leadership skills
  5. Ability to work effectively in a team and independently
  6. Commitment to ongoing professional development and process improvement
