Job Description:

North Homes Children and Family Services is a private, non-profit agency that provides comprehensive mental health services to children and families across Northern Minnesota. Our mission is to provide a community-based continuum of compassionate care to children and families. Our adult services program is growing and we are looking for full or part-time ARMHS Practitioners who want to be part of our growth! The ARMHS Practitioner will provide community based rehabilitative services with adults focused on basic living and social skills, community resources, crisis assistance, parenting skills, household management, and mental illness symptoms management.

 

MAJOR JOB DUTIES (JOB SPECIFIC)

 

Coordination / Communication

  • Develop, maintain and utilize both written and verbal communication skills.

 

Client & Family Interaction

  • Adhere to confidentiality and mandatory reporting laws.
  • Create and implement a mental health treatment plan that is reviewed and approved by the clinical supervisor.
  • Provide resources and education for families, client and staff in an effort to improve educational functioning. 
  • Identify current strengths and needs relevant to the client. 

 

Documentation and Training

  • Complete all paperwork in an appropriate, accurate and timely manner and according to agency guidelines.
  • Attend all continuing education and training, as mandated by the agency or licensor.
  • Adhere to appropriate paperwork timelines so services can be billed appropriately and timely. 
  • Ensure all documents have proper signatures.

 

 

All Other Duties As Assigned

Other duties may be assigned to this position periodically depending on the needs of the agency and/or Human Resources Director.

 

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Qualified Mental Health Practitioner

Relevant Coursework

  • 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in behavioral sciences/related fields**

AND one of the following: 

  • 2,000 hours of supervised experience in delivery of services*…
  • Is fluent in non-English language of the clientele ethnic group…
  • Is working in day treatment program
  • Has completed a practicum or internship that focuses on direct interaction with adults or children served, and is focused on behavioral sciences or related fields

Work Experience  

  • 4,000 hours of supervised experience in delivery of services*…

OR

  • 2,000 hours of supervised experience in delivery of services*...AND receives clinical supervision as required by applicable statutes and rules from a mental health professional at least once a week until the requirement of 4,000 hours of supervised experience is met

Graduate Student Internship

  • Is a graduate student in behavioral sciences or related fields** and is formally assigned by an accredited college or university to an agency or facility for clinical training 

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree

  • Holds a master’s or graduate degree in behavioral sciences or related fields**

OR

  • Holds a bachelor’s degree in behavioral sciences or related fields** AND completes a practicum or internship that requires direct interaction with adults or children served and is focused on behavioral sciences or related fields**

Vendor of medical care

  1. Knowledge of parenting skills, child care methods, child development, home management and housekeeping skills, etc.
  2. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  3. Good decision making skills and the ability to work with minimal direction.
  4. Strong interpersonal and interviewing skills required.
  5. Ability to work with resistant clients; be non-judgmental in regards to lifestyles and/or economic status.
  6. Desire to work with high-risk youth and families in crisis.
