ADJUNCT FACULTY (Law, Economics, Accounting, Generative AI, Esports/Drone Technology, Human Resources)NON-TENURE TRACKDepartment of BusinessMorris Brown College · Atlanta, GeorgiaOVERVIEWMorris Brown College Department of Business is currently seeking faculty in the following disciplines to include but not limited to: Accounting, Economics, Generative AI, Esports/Drone Technology, Human Resources, and Law (See catalog on college website for further details).JOB DUTIESJob duties include, but are not limited to, the following requirements as defined by TRACS accreditation standards, the board-approved Faculty Handbook, administrative policies, and state requirements set forth by The Georgia Nonpublic Postsecondary Education Commission (GNPEC). Faculty members are expected to be effective teachers and excel in course instruction. The minimum expectations of faculty who teach at Morris Brown College are outlined below:Teaching EffectivenessPossess thorough and accurate knowledge of the specific field or discipline, including the ability to evaluate and apply contentSelect and develop instructional materials; plan and organize instruction to enhance student learning; create appropriate assignments to encourage student learning, the development of communication skills, and higher-order thinking; and use available instructional technology, as appropriateUse a variety of proven methods of engagement and assessment that facilitate student mastery of contentProvide students constructive, encouraging, and corrective feedbackEvaluate student learning by creating and applying course competencies and accurately assessing student progressStrive to increase teaching effectiveness through appropriate teaching and learning strategies; evaluate student learning and modify instructional methods as needed to meet diverse student needs Content ExpertiseDemonstrate deep subject knowledge, including key concepts, current and relevant research, methodologies, tools and techniques, and meaningful applicationsBe committed to professional development by keeping current in the respective disciplineMaintain faculty credentials as required by the college's accrediting agenciesDemonstrate interpersonal and communication skills that result in clear communication of subject matter to studentsProfessional ResponsibilitiesProvide timely, substantive feedback in appropriate formsMeet classes as scheduled; notify the appropriate Department Chair, Assistant Provost, or Provost in advance of any absence and, if possible, arrange for a substitute instructor or assignmentsBe accessible to students through email, wireless/cellular technology, or scheduled office hours, including arranging additional time for appointments when necessaryPrepare and distribute syllabi in accordance with established procedures and guidelines, and follow the published final exam scheduleMaintain accurate records of students' academic standing; promptly provide final grades, attendance, and other information as required by administrationRespect the confidentiality of student information; refrain from discussing or releasing such information except within recognized limitsEvaluate students based solely on their academic performance and respond promptly to student grade questions and/or appealsPerform other duties as assigned by the Department ChairREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSDoctorate degree preferredAdjunct faculty are required to teach one or more courses in which they hold at least a master's degree or have completed 18 graduate hours in the relevant subject area.Faculty members teaching in Esports or Hospitality may qualify with a minimum of a bachelor's degree if they have extensive experience in the field.An equivalent combination of education and related teaching experience may be consideredAdjunct faculty must complete required instructional technology training and demonstrate proficiency in the Morris Brown College Learning Management System, Brightspace, prior to being assigned a teaching load. Faculty teaching online courses must maintain regular engagement with students within the LMS.JOB TYPEPart-time, non-tenure track, 9-month appointment. Minimum 20 hours per week. Working hours will occasionally include evenings and weekends during peak periods, including registration, grading cycles, and institutional review seasons.COMPENSATIONAdjunct faculty compensation follows the Morris Brown College Adjunct Faculty Pay and Proration Schedule.
