As an ACT Mental Health Specialist, you will:

  • Provide assessments, individual sessions, develop treatment plan goals, and group sessions to clients of the ACT team
  • Work with the client and fellow team members towards meeting the outcome objectives and standards put forth by Polk County Health Services.
  • Provide mental health supports to clients of the ACT team as well as assist in educating and coordinating with team members to meet client mental health needs.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Critical to the success of this position is the ability to build professional, understanding, and trusting relationships with clients who may be experiencing mental health disorders.
  • Ongoing passion about making a difference in the lives of those who have been touched by mental illness.
  • Ability to practice good verbal and written communication skills with ability to complete case notes timely.

Requirements

To be considered you’ll need:

  • Master’s degree in human services or related field.
  • Required to be licensed as a Mental Health Counselor, LISW, LMSW or Occupational Therapist per Iowa code.
  • One year serving the population
  • Experience with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness – preferred
  • Required to obtain medication manager certificate within three months of hire
  • Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor certification (CADC) – preferred
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Required to maintain a minimum of $100,000 per person and $300,000 per accident auto insurance liability coverage. Required to provide proof of coverage.

Schedule:

  • Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm; some evenings & weekends

COVID 19 Vaccine/Flu Vaccine Requirements
