The Challenge
We are looking for an entry level Accounting Technician to join our Accounts Payable Payment Audit team.
In this role, you will:
- Approve invoices related to state credit card invoices.
- Audit scanned backup documentation to ensure correct information is attached and correctly entered in the NCDOT accounting system.
- Assist employees with questions and problems processing documents.
- Communicate regularly with field staff to ensure invoices meet NCDOT policies/procedures.
- Mail and batch checks monthly and assist with statement distributions.
- Serve as backup to Payment Audit team members.
- Complete special projects.
What You Bring
- Experience with SAP or other accounting systems.
- Working knowledge of accounting methods, procedures, and accounting practices, specifically auditing experience in Accounts Payable.
- Computer experience with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Knowledge of government accounting methods, procedures, and financial practices.
- Experience understanding, interpreting, and applying laws related to financial records.
Education & Experience
- Associate degree in Accounting; or
- High School/GED diploma, and
- 2+ years of accounting experience; or
- An equivalent combination of training and experience.
