This internship position is within the Accounts Payable Unit for Seattle City Light. The intern will work with the Accounts Payable Manager, Accountant, and staff in support of the accounting functions and payment processing that are required of the work group. The intern will have the opportunity to be responsible for a defined set of tasks and work products, including account reconciliation, processing of payment requests, developing databases and reports while gaining first-hand knowledge and working experience in accounts payable and accounting environment. This position reports to the AP Accountant.

Internship Duration and Hours: Year-long: The time frame of the internship is May 2024-May 2025 (semester schools) or June 2024-June 2025 (quarter schools). The candidate can work up to 40 hours/week during the summer and up to 20 hours/week when classes are in session. Work hours will be flexible to accommodate intern's academic schedule.
Hybrid Work: The City has the expectation that interns will be readily available to report to onsite work in Seattle when operational needs require, in accordance with guidance from the Mayor of Seattle and Seattle City Light Return to Office policies.
Interns must have a Washington State address and live in Washington State at the time of hire and for the duration of their employment.
Benefits: Interns do not receive benefits but can obtain a subsidized ORCA pass and accrue sick time that can be used after 90 days of employment.
Background Check: Job offers are contingent on the verification of credentials and other information required by the employment process, including the completion of a background check. The background check will involve a criminal history check, which includes conviction and arrest records in compliance with the Seattle’s Fair Chance Employment Ordinance, SMC 14.17 and the City of Seattle Personnel Rule 10.3. A driving history review may be conducted in compliance with SMC 4.79.020. Applicants will be provided an opportunity to explain or correct background information.
