Become a Key Player as a Senior Software Engineer, Search

You will help advance a mission-driven search platform that surfaces mission-critical information for decision makers. You will partner with ML, product, and engineering stakeholders to improve retrieval quality and latency, delivering measurable impact for the organization. This is a Remote role.

Here’s How You’ll Make an Impact on the Team

1. Design and adapt the technical strategy for search across the product platform, including full-text search, vector databases, LLMs, NLP, and relevance algorithms
2. Improve search latency and relevance through architecture and implementation improvements
3. Collaborate with product engineers, designers, and mission strategists to translate user needs into data-informed search innovations
4. Research and apply emerging technologies and best practices to improve index quality, freshness, and retrieval performance

Here’s What You’ll Need to Be Successful in This Role

1. 7+ years of experience in backend software development
2. 3+ years of experience in search, information retrieval, or related fields
3. Strong expertise in information retrieval, NLP, and machine learning, including indexing, ranking, query parsing, tokenization, and vector search
4. Hands-on experience with at least one major search engine (e.g., Elasticsearch, OpenSearch)
5. Familiarity with search evaluation frameworks (e.g., precision, recall, NDCG)
6. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills
7. U.S. Person status (required to access U.S.-only data systems)

Pay Range

$150,000 - $215,000/year
