Position Purpose

As a direct report of the Chief Development Officer, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as a Senior Director, Development and Account Management. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the activation of secured donors within corporate, foundation, and organizational structures funded through cause marketing, grants, or sponsorship. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in achieving year-over-year retention, contract success, and deliverables achievement, while driving revenue growth and activation opportunities through various channels for a portfolio of $15-30M and personally accountability for $3M+ in retained revenue as well as an annual new business goal.

 

Travel: Approximately 30-35%

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Direct Account Management: Successful lead and activate partners who generate $3M+ in nationwide fundraising annually through complex integrated plans, ranging from cause marketing to sponsorship and grant based funding.
  • Overall Funder Activation Strategy: Develop and implement comprehensive strategies to activate secured funders, ensuring successful partnerships across cause marketing, grants, sponsorship, and other funding mechanisms for the entire portfolio of accounts across the team and at scale.
  • Retention and Success Metrics: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track year-over-year retention, contract success, and deliverables success. Take proactive measures to address any challenges and enhance overall partner satisfaction. Develop tools and resources to support partner success and retention.
  • Revenue Growth: Drive revenue growth within existing partnerships by identifying and capitalizing on diverse opportunities, including cause marketing, employee giving, Employee Resource Group (ERG) engagement, grants, sponsorships, product integration, and marketing activities. Identify and pursue new business growth annually to achieve organizational revenue goals.
  • Portfolio Management: Directly manage a portfolio of secured funds totaling $20M or more, ensuring effective stewardship and maximizing the impact of funds towards the organization's mission.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and inspire a remote team of 4-6 account management professionals. Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment with accountability for achieving account portfolio success. Oversee related contract resources aligned to account success.
  • Partnership Expansion: Identify and pursue opportunities for expanding partnerships with existing funders, exploring additional avenues for collaboration and support.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, finance, and program management, to ensure seamless execution of partnership initiatives and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Generate regular reports on portfolio performance, presenting insights and recommendations to senior leadership. Conduct in-depth analysis to identify trends and areas for improvement. Develop tools, resources, and materials to support partner impact, portfolio evaluation, and optimization.
  • Manages related and other duties as assigned in support of department and business needs.

Education & Related Work Experience

 

Education Level: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field or equivalent relevant business experience.

Years of Related Work Experience: A minimum of ten (10) years of relevant corporate engagement and account leadership roles with personal accountability of $3M, plus people management experience.

 

Skills and Knowledge: Proven experience in account management and business development, particularly in the nonprofit sector; Demonstrated success in managing large portfolios and achieving revenue targets; Strong leadership skills with experience in remote team management; Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Strategic thinker with the ability to drive innovative partnership opportunities; Familiarity with cause marketing, grants, and sponsorship landscape; Advanced problem-solving and communication; Highly organized in approach, with ability to set and manage priorities; Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects, timelines and budgets within fast-paced environment while maintaining a commitment to high quality, detail-oriented work; Advanced cross functional project management skills with the ability to motivate and galvanize teams toward a common goal; Advanced level verbal and written communication skills; Advanced interpersonal skills with proven ability to build and maintain relationships.
