Job Description:

Prolific Machines is on a mission to accelerate the transition to sustainable agriculture. We believe that we have the only solution to make cultured meat at a price that is competitive with factory farming. We are looking for mission-driven, skilled, and kind people to help create the alternative we need to transition to a more sustainable and healthy future.

Diversity : We value diverse people, perspectives, and knowledge. To this end, we aim to foster a sense of belonging that enables everyone to bring their whole, authentic self to work everyday. We are committed to growing a diverse and inclusive team that encompasses all types of people. We believe this can only be achieved by acknowledging the ancestral, historic, and current systemic and communal inequities.

Role Description

We’re looking for a senior research associate who will support and contribute to the synthetic biology team at Prolific Machines. The candidate will work both in molecular biology and in mammalian cell culture. Primary duties will include the cloning and preparation of plasmids and their subsequent application in mammalian cells using e.g. transfection, viral transduction, or genome editing tools. The candidate will analyze the engineered cells by state-of-the-art techniques such as microscopy, flow cytometry, qPCR, or NGS either independently or in collaboration with specialized teams.

The senior research associate will be part of the synthetic biology team and work closely with cell biology and bioprocessing to develop innovative solutions to grow and differentiate cells at scale. The cultured meat product you’ll help to bring about has the potential to feed the world’s growing demand for meat without destroying the climate!

  • 2+ years post-degree experience in an industrial or academic research setting
  • Be proficient in the aseptic culturing of mammalian cells
  • Experience with genetic engineering of mammalian cells (e.g. transfection, viral transduction, or genome editing tools)
  • Experience with routine technologies for analysis of mammalian cells (e.g. flow cytometry, microscopy, qPCR)
  • Experience with the cloning of plasmids

Start Date: Flexible; within the next 3 months.

Salary range: $80,000 - $95,000 (bi-weekly payments)
