Senior Gameplay Programmer (3C's) | AAA Gaming | North America-based | Remote Options | $200,000 - $300,000 USD

The Role:

As a Senior Gameplay 3C Programmer, you will be a cornerstone in actualizing the gameplay vision for the studio. Collaborating closely with designers and other programmers, your role will revolve around crafting and refining character controls, camera systems, and player interactions (3Cs) to deliver a seamless and engaging gameplay experience. Technical prowess, problem-solving capabilities, and a dedication to creating top-tier games are paramount in this role.


The Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and optimize player control systems, camera mechanics, and character interactions to elevate gameplay experiences.
  • Collaborate with designers to understand gameplay requirements and translate them into functional 3C systems.
  • Debug and troubleshoot 3C systems to enhance and fine-tune gameplay for optimal user experience.
  • Utilize various programming languages and tools to design and implement gameplay features, focusing on 3Cs.
  • Ensure seamless integration of 3C elements with other game systems to maintain a cohesive gameplay flow.
  • Research and adopt emerging industry trends and technologies to evolve the studio's 3C capabilities.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior programmers, nurturing their growth and expertise in gameplay 3C development.
  • Stay updated on advancements in gameplay design and related technologies to contribute to the team's technical knowledge.


The Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, game development, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • A minimum of 5 years of game development experience. Must have participated in the development of at least one 3D action game. Should possess a comprehensive grasp of game development technologies and maintain an ongoing interest and commitment to learning in this field.
  • Proficient in C++ programming. Familiarity with Python will be considered a plus.
  • In-depth experience in using or developing animation blueprints or other skeletal animation frameworks.
  • Agile thinker with a strong sense of responsibility. High self-management skills, the ability to drive task progression, and the capability to independently research and resolve technical challenges.
  • Strong communication skills, excellent team collaboration spirit, and high resilience under pressure. Previous experience in large game development teams is preferred.
