Summary:

SUMMARY: To operate feeder on printers and assist crew in make-readies, wash up, and maintenance of press by performing the following duties. This is NIGHTS, 6pm to 6am

Responsibilities:

Summary of essential job functions:

Reads the assigned job specification sheets and understands all requirements and variables.

  • Organizes stock to be printed.
  • Checks type, size, caliper, and grain direction of stock to be run.
  • Sets up feeder and delivery to the correct stock size.
  • Assists in installing plates and blankets.
  • Maintains ink in fountains and water in circulators.
  • Operates feeder and makes changes as needed for press to run efficiently.
  • Assists in plate removal and blanket and roller cleanup.
  • Maintains supplies at machines, including water at each fountain, alcohol, and type and press wash for cleaning.
  • Maintains cleanliness of machinery and area around it.
  • Responsible for learning the Printing Press Operator #2 position.
  • Must be capable of keeping accurate records, including the completion of all required forms; and the accurate use of different measuring devices, and all other applicable gauges for your responsibilities.
  • Must follow all applicable procedures and make recommendations for system improvements as identified.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must have the ability to read, write, and comprehend documents and verbal instructions in English for Safety, ISO, and work related tasks. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must have the ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Must have the ability to effectively communicate and present information in one-on-one and small group situations with employees of the organization.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to accurately use and read a standard tape measure using 16th and 32nd measurements.


REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
