The Opportunity:

At Rio Grande, a Manufacturing Scheduler/Buyer is responsible for executing production and purchase orders to balance capacity and optimize throughput for a variety of value streams. You will schedule and monitor manufacturing production orders and communicate with production teams to meet customer demand. In your role you will also perform a variety of purchasing functions including the procurement of raw materials, components, services and supplies, and identify cost reduction opportunities with new and existing vendors

What You'll Do:

  • Schedule and monitor manufacturing production orders in ERP system (SAP)
  • Collaborate with forecasting team to ensure stock levels are met
  • Develop master schedule to establish sequence and lead time of products to meet expected demand according to sales forecasts or customer orders
  • Plan and schedule workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times
  • Effectively communicate with production teams to prioritize work to meet customer demand
  • Analyze data and reports and collaborate with other teams to determine manufacturing processes, tools, and human resource requirements
  • Oversee accuracy of master data including BOMs, routings, costs, and vendor data
  • Evaluate supplier performance, develop sourcing strategies, and maintain supplier partnerships
  • Prepare purchase orders to obtain materials, tools, and equipment and ensure timely delivery
  • Negotiate prices and terms with vendors to ensure product quality, cost, and availability
  • Collaborate effectively with internal and external partners to resolve quality issues
  • Facilitate information-sharing to ensure processes are in place and customer needs are met
  • Ensure accurate stock status information is available for customer service representatives
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused around improving the overall scheduling/purchasing system and processes

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 5 years of production scheduling experience in a manufacturing work environment using an ERP system
  • 2 Years of Purchasing Experience.
  • Strong understanding of Materials Requirements Planning
  • Extensive experience in using advanced (Tier 1 or Tier 2) ERP Systems
  • Demonstrated initiative, creativity, and good judgment in solving complex problems
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively within a team within our participative management culture
  • Proficient in MS Office software including strong skills in Excel
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and problem-solving concepts a plus

Pay: $63,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
