Sanametrix, is seeking a dynamic GIS Analyst with research experience. This is an important position supporting our customer in a proposal we are bidding on. This position would be 100% remote with real growth potential. Award is expected in mid to late April 2024.

The Senior GIS Analyst/Researcher drives the execution of a broad range of geospatial data development projects. The successful candidate must be a self-starter who is driven to improve and document processes in order to create high quality data products.
The candidate possesses knowledge of GIS theory and practice; in-depth understanding of topologically valid geospatial data development and quality control maintenance techniques and practices; an understanding of relational data principles; ability to effectively integrate spatial and non-spatial data; ability to develop geoprocessing models and automated scripts; and ability to develop and document workflows.
Capable of supervising, coaching, and/or mentoring junior members of the team. Effective written and oral communicator, especially with regard to technical documentation.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare map services for web map applications using ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS for Server, and ArcGIS Online
- Ensure projects follow the appropriate processes and all documentation is maintained appropriately for each project.
- Help innovate customer data management to increase quality and reduce processing time.
- Perform QA/QC on a variety of geospatial data products related to education.
- Assist with training the staff in the use of GIS and related practices; support staff throughout the learning process. Coach and/or mentor as needed.
- Create models to automate processes that allow for batch processing.
- Coordinate the acquisition of new spatial data and integrate it into new and existing geodatabases.
- Identify areas where technology can be leveraged to solve an operational challenge or where services can be enhanced.
- Meet with users to define data needs, project requirements, and required outputs.
- Conduct research to locate and review publicly available datasets.
- Create updated geospatial data products on an annual basis.
- Prepare necessary documentation prior to meetings and follow up on important actions and decisions from meeting.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree, plus 5-9 years of related GIS experience with Esri products, including ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online
- 2 years of direct experience leading GIS projects including a proven track record of effectively managing data product tasks.
- Able to coach, mentor, and/or supervise lesser experienced colleagues
- Experience creating and publishing GIS web services.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience creating FGDC compliant metadata.
- Ability to check own work for compliance with requirements and expectations.
- Must possess good organizational, and oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to details and experience with QA / QC and data analysis.
- Strong communicator who is comfortable in verbal and written presentations; concise, logical and accurate.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analysis, problem solving and documentation skills
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Data.gov and GeoPlatform.gov
- Experience using Jira or a similar ticket tracking software.
- Experience managing an organizational ArcGIS Online account.
- Programming experience using Python or other analysis tools.
- Experience with cloud computing, Amazon Web Services
- Experience with Portal for ArcGIS and ArcGIS for Server
- Experience with Power BI
