Job Description:

Brown and Caldwell, a national environmental engineering and consulting firm, is looking to expand our in-house design studio with a full-time entry level Graphic Designer. We are seeking a self-motivated and creative professional with persuasive graphics, illustration, and layout skills. The designer works closely with other Graphic Designers, Senior Graphic Designers, and Design Leads/Supervisors/Managers to execute design, compose layout, and coordinate with the marketing sales teams.

This role has the potential to work virtually and can be filled near any BC office, preference of Columbus, OH, Raleigh, NC, Charlotte, NC, or Portland, OR areas. Roles and Responsibilities:

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing professional consulting firm and to be a part of a collaborative, largely virtual graphic design community.

  • Applies knowledge of process and branding to successfully complete pursuit/project deliverable tasks.
  • Serves as a BC Brand champion. Advances understanding of BC visual brand and templates by applying them in pursuits and marketing collateral.
  • Supports document layout, graphic and illustration development and revisions for pursuits, presentations, and deliverables. Conducts reviews of final layouts and graphics to suggest improvements, as needed.
  • Supports slide formatting, interview graphics, animation and revisions for interviews and presentations.
  • Supports creation of graphics ranging from cover design, brochures, maps, informational graphics, basic process diagrams, charts, conceptual illustrations, and persuasive graphics that simply convey key information while achieving company brand standards (including billable work as needed).
  • Prepare and communicate instructions for final assembly and print preparation both internally and with external vendors.
  • Strives for “zero tolerance” of errors when editing/proofing/spell checking. Schedules time for a senior design review when applicable.
  • Attends team workload meetings and communicates project status and availability to graphic design project leads and supervisors.
  • Seeks open design critique from senior-level team members and proactively asks for ways to continue to improve, explores resources, follows processes and guidelines.
  • Asks questions when uncertainty arises.
  • Develops reputation for consistently high customer service and communication skills.
  • Adheres to expectations for level of effort on all projects.
  • Maintains archive of assets, including images, photos, and previous work products. Uploads final products and assets to established company storage as appropriate.
  • Follows Creative Services standard practices, including standard file structure; project ticket requests; sharing best products, knowledge, and expertise through the Creative Services design community.
  • Communicates closely with clients on schedule, revisions, and graphic needs through project completion.
  • Effectively manages and prioritizes multiple deadlines simultaneously.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A strong and relevant portfolio, including samples of document of completed layout and graphic development, is required to be considered for this position. Acceptable formats include a site link or attached PDF.
  • BA/BS in Graphic Design, Communication or related field is required. A combination of experience and education may be substituted.
  • At least one year of related experience is required.
  • Highly Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Acrobat, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
  • Experience in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to coordinate and manage multiple tasks and excel in a fast-paced work environment while meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to work with various departments to resolve challenges.

Salary RangeThe anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location A:
Salary $46,000 - $62,000

Location B:
Salary $51,000 - $68,000

Location C:
Salary $55,000 - $75,000
