Responsibilities:
Meeting Prep: Review animatic/storyboards prior to each episode’s Art Breakdown meeting. Pre-breakdown with notes of the animatic.
Meetings: Attend the Art Breakdown Meeting, BG discussion meeting, and BG design launch. Production will take notes during these meetings, but it is recommended that you take your own notes as well. The Design Supervisor should feel comfortable weighing in during these meetings on how to handle the BGs for the episodes.
BG Assignments: Production will do a first pass of the assignments. The design supervisor will carefully review what production has assigned and either approve or shift assignments to match the strengths of the artists.
BG PSD File Prep: Check the notes Production has placed in the BG PSD files. Add or clean up notes as needed.
Reviewing Designs: Act as first reviewer of the B&W BG designs.
Act as first point of contact for the artists for any questions or concerns.
Act as first reviewer of the B&W BG designs when they come in.
Check for show style and continuity across designs.
Communicate any notes to the artist.
Designs approved by the Design Supervisor will then go to the Art Director and Supervising Producer for final approval.
Supervisor’s Assignments: The Design Supervisor will also have BG designs assigned to them based on their bandwidth.
Communication: Keep in communication with Production and the Art Director regarding schedules, design statuses, and any problems that arise.

Leadership:
Ability to multi-task, prioritize and problem-solve.
Clearly understanding the creative requirements of a sequence and drive the layout team to achieve the creative goals.
Work with the Storyboard Supervisors/Supervising Directors to achieve creative goals for the episode.
Manage multiple staff and freelance artists’ assignments, ensuring layouts come in on schedule.
Ability to pick up / draw in different design styles preferred but not required.

Qualifications:
A minimum of 3-5 years experience in an Art Director or Supervisor role preferred.
Strong organizational and tracking skills.
Fundamental understanding of perspective, design, and animation principles.
Understanding of how to break down storyboards for design needs.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Weekly Hiring Salary Range: $2373.6 - 2600.0.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington State, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program, and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
