Job Description:

The Communications Specialist will provide administrative and technical support to executive leadership and division/center directors within the Satcher Health Leadership Institute (SHLI) and promote the Institute’s thought leadership in health policy nationally and globally.

 

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATIONBachelor’s Degree form a regionally accredited college or university.

EXPERIENCEMinimum 3-5 years of professional work experience, with an advanced degree given consideration in lieu of experience.

Intermediate to advanced level experience with website management (e.g. Wordpress or other content management system), social media management (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube), email marketing platforms (e.g. Mailchimp); multimedia design, and telecommunication platforms (e.g. GoToMeeting, WebEx, etc.)

Job Duties

 

Description of Job Duty

  • Facilitate the Satcher Health Leadership Institute’s communications efforts through the management of its websites.
  • Develop social media content, edit content, employ analytics, and serve as the primary liaison to the Institute in regard to coordination of social media engagement.
  • Assist Institute core staff in the development and dissemination of Institute announcements, newsletters, media alerts, reports, vignettes, and other internal/external correspondence.
  • Produce weekly communications on public policy updates for the Health Equity Leadership and Exchange Network (HELEN), including the coordination of educational webinars and the development of public comments and other special announcements.
  • Organize and manage Institute trainees, alumni, and partners/collaborators contact databases, listservs, and social network maps.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between SHLI and the MSM Department of Marketing & Communications regarding brand compliance, internal/external communications, and special projects.
  • Coordinate AV/media/technology logistics and technical support for Institute virtual meetings, telecommunications (e.g. webinars) and other special activities.
