Job Description:

The purpose of this position is to facilitate and support the standardization, centralization, and globalization of press fingerprinting, proofing, and the associated profiles and curves.

SGS is in the process of transitioning from an independent plant model to a global entity with a standard way of working. Technical color functions such as fingerprinting and proofer set-up and support will need to be centralized and standardized. Profiles need to be consolidated, standardized, and centralized. The new process, repository, database, and naming convention needs to support the organization globally.

This position will facilitate the global transition to the new way of working on a plant by plant basis while working closely with the global corporate color team, plant leads, and color and proofing leads at the operations level. In addition to initial transition, this position will offer on-going support to the locations with the corporate color team members, as needed.

The position will report into the VP of the Global Color & PQM group, the employee will also need to work closely with the Regional Color Managers.

Location: Can be remote or within any SGS location

Essential Responsibilities, Accountabilities & Results

  • Act as a consultant and support each plant location to transition profiles and color process to 1WOW (1 Way of Working)
  • Become the color team owner of the central color and profile repository
  • Act as a liaison between plants/operations and the corporate color team
  • Support the VP to implement and drive standardization, centralization, and globalization
  • Generate and maintain profiles as needed, train on the standard and agreed process
  • Assess plant level competency to be able to advise on ideal way forward at each location

Educational & Experience Minimum Requirements

This position requires the following knowledge and skills:

  • College level Education in graphics, print, or color management
  • 3-5 year’s experience in color measurement and management
  • The ability to generate profiles from fingerprint data
  • Experience in prepress for Flexo and Gravure

Competency Requirements

  • Competent in Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational, and documentation skills
  • Working knowledge of Color Management, Fingerprinting and the Profiling Process
  • Working knowledge of GMG preferred
  • Working Knowledge of Color-Logic, Copra, Zepra, and ColorAnt is preferred, but not essential
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Self-driven and self-motivated
  • Ability to research a problem and come to solutions in a timely manner
